Salt & Light

Image
Courtesy of SlideShare   We as the body of Christ are commanded (not suggested) to be the "salt and light" to the world around us. Scripture says: " You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:13-16   The command is pretty straightforward isn't it? But why does it seem like such a hard thing to do? I believe it's because we do not like confrontation! We don't like to cause a fight or an argument. But that shouldn't hinder us from being obedient.    Its tough to ru...

Ecumenism Update

Published by thebereancall.org: What is ecumenism, and why should it be updated? Ecumenism is a movement that began as an attempt to bring about unity within the denominations and groups that call themselves Christian. In the mid-20 th century, however, a change took place (led, for the most part, by the Roman  Catholic   [1]  Church), expanding the goal of ecumenism to include all religions. That may seem like a worthy objective, but it is neither biblical nor possible. Nevertheless, the movement is alive today and growing exponentially. Yet most Christians do not recognize its deceptive nature. Hence this update. Some would claim that the Bible  calls  for religious unity. No, it calls for Christians who are true followers of Jesus Christ to unite themselves in the truth of God’s Word—the faith—once for all delivered to those who have put their trust in Jesus ( Ephesians:4:1-6 ; Jude 3). For those who have not received Christ’s offer of  salvati...

TEACHING THAT THE CHURCH WILL GO THROUGH THE TRIBULATION IS ANTI-SEMITIC REPLACEMENT THEOLOGY

This is an excerpt by Geoffrey Grinder from Now the End Begins: "What is Replacement Theology?  It is the pernicious and false teaching that God is finished with the Jews and national Israel, and has replaced the Jews with Christians and Israel with the Church. Sadly it is taught by many in the Christian world today..... "People say to me all the time  that it “doesn’t really matter what you believe about the events of the Tribulation”, as it is not a salvational issue. But this skewed Laodicean thinking is not only dangerous, it’s deadly. It does matter how you view the timeline of the events of the Tribulation because it determines in large part your theology. People who, in error, attempt to place the Church in the time of Jacob’s trouble can only do it by putting the Church where Israel should be, and as such are guilty of teaching Replacement Theology. They are guilty of stealing promises made to the Jews and Israel alone, and God will have none of that."  ...

Why do so many professing Christians reject the Gospel?

Image
The promise of the Gospel is eternal, everlasting life with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Eternal life is God's promise to all who repent and believe the Gospel, because the Gospel declares Jesus did everything necessary to save sinners completely and forever! He is the all-sufficient Savior who finished His perfect work of redemption on Calvary's cross (John 19:30). He not only cancels the eternal sin debt for all who trust Him, but He also graciously credits His perfect righteousness to the believer's account (Col. 2:13-14; 2 Cor. 5:21).  Yet, over half of professing Christianity deny God's promise and assurance of eternal life (1 John 5:13). Many live in fear of losing their salvation because they have not trusted Christ alone for their salvation. They have been wrongly taught that salvation is conditional, incorrectly relying on what man must DO instead of what Christ has DONE. This was evident when we engaged Catholics going into the Mass on Christmas...
