Finney believed that a golden age of Christianity, in which Christ is
honored, God’s moral law obeyed, and the need for further revivals ended
could be brought about by the activities of the church.
There are several problems with this, the greatest of which is that the
Bible does not teach it. As we will see, Finney felt free to depart from
Biblical orthodoxy in order to promote his ideals.
