Encouraging Hymn Lyrics

What if it Were Today? Jesus is coming to earth again; what if it were today? Coming in power and love to reign; what if it were today? Coming to claim His chosen bride, all the redeemed and purified, Over this whole earth scattered wide; what if it were today? Refrain Glory, glory! Joy to my heart ’twill bring. Glory, glory! When we shall crown Him king. Glory, glory! Haste to prepare the way; Glory, glory! Jesus will come some day. Satan’s dominion will then be o’er, O that it were today! Sorrow and sighing shall be no more, O that it were today! Then shall the dead in Christ arise, caught up to meet Him in the skies, When shall these glories meet our eyes? What if it were today? Refrain Faithful and true would He find us here if He should come today? Watching in gladness and not in fear, if He should come today? Signs of His coming multiply; morning light breaks in eastern sky. Watch, for the time is drawing nigh; what if it were today? Refrain (By:L...

Ashamed of the Gospel (Part 1)

Image
I have started reading a book by John MacArthur entitled: "Ashamed of the Gospel." This book has so many great points and is useful for discerning whether your local church has fallen into this deceptive movement or not. So I wanted to start a list of quotations from the book that I think are very helpful. I entitled the post 'Part 1" because I know there will be many more quotes from the book that I feel led to post. "The chief criterion for gauging the success of a church has become attendance figures, whatever pulls in the most people is accepted without critical analysis as good . That is pragmatism." (preface. xiii) "The aim of the early modernists was simply to make the church more "modern," more unified, more relevant, and more acceptable to a skeptical modern age. Just like the pragmatists today." (preface. xvi) "Yet if church history teaches us anything, it teaches us that the most devastating assaults ...

Is Pope Francis Laying The Groundwork For A One World Religion?

Image
by Michael Synder April 15, 2013 Does Pope Francis intend to help the global elite achieve their goal of uniting all of the religions of the world under a single banner?  Will he be instrumental in establishing a single global religion for the glorious “new age” that the global elite believe is coming?  After he was elected, the cover of Time Magazine declared Pope Francis to be the “ New World Pope “ , and since his election Pope Francis has made it abundantly clear that he is going to make ecumenical outreach a top priority.  He has spoken of his “ determination to continue on the path of ecumenical dialogue “, and he has already held a number of very high profile ecumenical meetings.  Not only has he worked hard to reach out to leaders from various Christian traditions, he has also made it a point to try to acknowledg...

Principles for Living to God’s Glory: Enslavement

Image
By John MacArthur Life is full of gray areas—the daily matters, issues, and choices that aren’t inherently good or bad, and to which Scripture doesn’t specifically speak. How believers navigate those areas has a major influence on their spiritual growth, their testimony, and their usefulness to the Lord. To help you develop biblical criteria for the gray-area decisions you face, we’ve been looking at some key instructions and exhortations from the apostle Paul. In 1 Corinthians, Paul told his readers, “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything” (6:12). Again, the apostle underscored the fact that he wanted to do only those things that are spiritually profitable. Part of that entails avoiding those activities that might result in personal enslavement. Paul knew that his only Master was Jesus Christ, and he would not allow himself to be mastered by anyone or anything else. The...

Don't be deceived by what America is sending y'all man, yeh? Let me begin, while there is still ink left in my pen, I am set to contend for Truth you can bet will offend, Deception within the church man, who's letting them in? We talked about this years ago, let's address it again. (Yeh) And I ain't really trying to start beef, but some who claim to be part of his sheep got some sharp teeth.(they're wolves) You cast at me when you criticize them when you criticize them, but Jesus told us: Matthew 7:16 , we can recognize them! And God forbid that for the love of some fans, I keep quiet and watch them die with their blood on my hands! Catholicism—Christian? Or Cultic?

Image
Article first published in June, 1991 By Dave Hunt  "Join me today in fasting and prayer for the 115 Cardinals seeking God's Will in a new leader." —Rick Warren, Twitter, 03/12/13 The evangelical church today is being seduced as never in its history. It faces a danger so grave that, although we have discussed this problem before, it must be addressed again with new insight and vigor. If evangelicals succumb to the seduction, as they increasingly are doing, then their gospel witness will be submerged in confusion and could eventually be lost—a tragic and new dimension to the apostasy from which the church and the world will never recover. Most astonishing and alarming is the fact that (with few exceptions) evangelical leaders and even the major cult watchers refuse to acknowledge this threat. We are therefore compelled to address the subject once again with renewed concern. For decades evangelicals have diligently and faithfully attempted to ...

Quick Reference Guide: Catholicism vs. The Bible

A point - by - point comparison — Excerpted from  The Gospel According to Rome  by James McCarthy   The Catholic Church Teaches: 1. Justification is a transformation of the soul in which original sin is removed and sanctifying grace infused [1987-1995]. 2. Initial justification is by means of baptism [1262-1274]. 3. Adults must prepare for justification through faith and good works [1247-1249]. 4. The justified are in themselves beautiful and holy in God’s sight [1992, 1999-2000, 2024]. 5. Justification is furthered by sacraments and good works [1212, 1392, 2010]. 6. Justification is lost through mortal sin [1033, 1855, 1874]. 7. Catholics guilty of mortal sin are justified again through the sacrament of penance [980, 1446]. 8. Salvation from the eternal consequences of sin is a lifelong process [161-162, 1254-1255]. 9. Salvation is attained by cooperating with grace through faith, good works, and participation in the sacraments [183, 1129, 1815, 2...

Mike's Gendron's Observations of the First Jesuit Pope

Within minutes after appearing for the first time to hundreds of thousands of Catholics in St. Peter's Square, Pope Francis, the first Jesuit pope, announced that he would be praying to Mary for the protection of Rome. Not once did he mention the name above all names, the name of Jesus. The Vatican released this statement about his first official act: "Francis began his first day as pope with a visit to a Roman basilica dedicated to the Virgin Mary and prayed before an icon of the Madonna." No one must have told him that praying to anyone other than God is forbidden by the Word of God (Ex. 20:4; 1 Tim. 2:5).     During his first papal Mass, his message was not about the Lord Jesus Christ, but on Joseph, the husband of Mary. He asked, "How does Joseph respond to his calling to be the protector of Mary, Jesus and the Church?" "By being constantly attentive to God, open to the signs of God's presence and receptive to God's ...
